MISA-Swaziland Alert
October 7 2013
An anonymous column in the Times of Swaziland on October 4 2013 has applauded the National Police Commissioner’s apology after an officer harassed a journalist.
The column, ‘MR REF’, is a daily feature of Times of Swaziland’s comments page. Each day MR REF considers three topical issues and will judge each issue as being either ‘onside’ or ‘offside’.
It had this to say about the recent apology from Commissioner Isaac Magagula.
“In a positive step towards observing constitutional rights, the police have apologised for harassing and manhandling a Swazi News journalist and deleting his photographs last month. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again. FLAG: ONSIDE”
